I'm a freelancer specialized on infrastructure and web performance with the goal to improve developer's life. Founder and organizer of the Swiss Rails User Group. Former product manager and software architect at local.ch.
As a web engineer I can help you with my wide experience in architecting, implementing and deploying large scale web applications. My main interest lies in automating and improving server, application and deployment infrastructure by using modern tools like Ansible or Docker and platform as a service offerings like CloudFoundry. I really believe that the future of devops is based on immutable servers and isolated processes.
Previously I was employed at local.ch, one of the largest Swiss websites, where I first worked as a software architect and migrated the frontend from PHP to Rails. After the successful migration I became product manager of the user facing part of the website and released on time a new restaurant guide together with my team.
During my computer science studies at HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil I discovered Rails and Ruby in 2006 and never went back to another framework or programming language. After graduating I really wanted to be an enterpreneur and started the company Alljo to let companies promote their open job positions by offering rewards for succesful recommendations.
In my spare time I love to travel the world, visiting conferences, scuba diving, hiking and going jogging from time to time.
