A very brief guide to setup a Go development environment on Ubuntu 14.04, mostly for myself:
- Download the latest archive:
wget https://storage.googleapis.com/golang/go1.4.2.linux-amd64.tar.gzIt can be found on the Go install documentation.
- Extract it to
sudo tar -C /usr/local -xzf go1.4.2.linux-amd64.tar.gz
- Create workspace
mkdir -p ~/golang/bin ~/golang/pkg ~/golang/src/github.com
- Set $PATH and $GOPATH
echo "export GOPATH=$HOME/golang" >> ~/.bashrc echo "export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin:$HOME/golang/bin" >> ~/.bashrc
